Shafiq Noorani Colorado Obituary Death

I received devastating news last night about my dear friend and climbing/skiing partner, Shafiq Noorani. Just yesterday morning, we were texting about our upcoming ski trip, but by the end of the day, I learned that Shafiq had tragically fallen while climbing Citadel Peak in Colorado, standing at 13,295 feet. His climbing partner reported the accident, and despite a Search and Rescue team’s efforts, Shafiq didn’t survive the fall.

Shafiq’s love for the mountains and the people who call them home was unmatched. His passion for helping communities, especially children, defined him. Just yesterday in Nepal, schools for orphans paid a beautiful tribute to Shafiq, honoring the profound impact he made halfway across the world. He was a devoted supporter of CYF (Children and Youth First), a cause close to his heart.

I can hardly believe this has happened. How could someone so special be taken so suddenly? Shafiq was the most giving, kind, and selfless person. He was responsible for building a school for children in a remote Nepalese region. He was the one who brought our group together—always the one cooking, cleaning, and volunteering to belay on our climbing trips, all with a genuine smile.

He lived a life of adventure, always planning the next journey, always out enjoying the beauty of the Rocky Mountains. The idea that he passed while doing what he loved is small comfort right now, but perhaps someday, we’ll find some sense in this tragedy. Details of his memorial, obituary and funeral arrangements will be announced soon
