A significant collision involving a Houston METRO bus led to major traffic disruptions near Midtown on Saturday afternoon. According to early reports, the incident occurred shortly after 2:30 p.m., when a Route 54 bus traveling along McGowen Street on the Highway 288 overpass was struck from behind by another vehicle. The impact forced the bus off the bridge, where it partially overturned.
Footage from Houston TranStar cameras captured the vehicle resting at a precarious angle on the embankment near the intersection of Hamilton and McGowen Streets. At the time of the crash, roughly a dozen passengers and the bus operator were on board. Emergency crews successfully removed everyone from the vehicle, and medical teams are currently assessing their conditions. While injuries have been reported, none appear to be life‑threatening, though evaluations are ongoing.
