Chris Hoy Bike Crash
Sir Chris Hoy made his first public appearance since the serious cycling accident he suffered before Christmas, arriving at the darts final on crutches to present Luke Littler with his trophy. In recent months, he has committed himself not only to new medical treatments but also to using his public platform to advocate for greater awareness, funding, and research.
Speaking to Sky Sports about his recovery from the broken leg he sustained while riding, Hoy reflected on the broader journey of managing his health. “Once you get past the diagnosis — which for me came more than two years ago — the initial stage is undeniably bleak,” he said. “But then treatment begins, and if you’re fortunate, as I have been, you respond to it and reach a period of relative stability.”
He acknowledged that this stability is not absolute. “There are moments when the condition resurfaces and you have to adjust your treatment,” he explained. “But I’m lucky that there are several options available to me, just as there are for many men living with prostate cancer.”
